AN OTLEY-BASED charity that brings news to people with visual impairments is seeking help.

Otley and District Talking Newspaper records readings of local news onto USB sticks and CDs and then delivers them to blind or partially sighted residents in many parts of Wharfedale, Aireborough and Horsforth.

The group also launched a website nearly two years ago and in the last six months has been listened to online more than 600 times, and had over 8,000 page views.

The charity is run by volunteers and is currently looking to recruit another technician to its team.

The role is suitable for anyone who is IT proficient and able to spare some time on Friday afternoons.

It involves recording the news readers - using a mixing desk and Adobe Audition - and then producing memory sticks of the recordings to be copied for listeners and uploaded to the website.
