THE MAIN road through Bramhope is to be regularly cleaned to help keep it free of mud.

Councillor Barry Anderson (Con, Adel & Wharfedale) had raised concerns about the condition of the A660 Leeds Road on behalf of residents. Villagers have been complaining about the state of the road in connection with building work that is being carried out nearby, on land off the A660, to create 319 new homes.

A site meeting, involving Leeds City Council, has now taken place and an agreement has been reached for ‘all parties’ - including developer Miller Homes and contractors - to help keep the road clean. Leeds Road is now to be cleaned on a daily basis from High Ridge Way down to the roundabout at Kings Road, with additional clean-ups to be carried out whenever soil-shifting operations are taking place.

The city council is also carrying out highways work - which will include the creation of a new roundabout on the A660 - in support of the housing development.
