FREEMASONS have been supporting an Otley school’s Breakfast Club.

Ashfield Primary School’s club provides pupils with breakfasts from 8am each morning.

The Chevin Lodge of Freemasons, keen to help, recently presented the club with a pallet of food.

The Lodge said it got involved after learning that some children were arriving at school without having had any breakfast.

Research that has been conducted on behalf of the Department for Education has found that schools which run breakfast clubs gain a number of benefits.

Most importantly, they can reduce the number of pupils who come to class hungry in the morning, which can have a negative impact on their studies.

Breakfast clubs can also help children eat more healthily and reduce the amount of junk food that they consume throughout the day.
