TEENAGERS who raised money to help honour men who lost their lives in the Second World War attended a dedication ceremony in Horsforth.
The boys, who acted in a Horsforth School play about the war, raised money through the performances and through other activities including bag-packing and sponsored swims. They raised £1400 in total for a number of military charities and part funded a plaque which has been added to Horsforth’s war memorial.
Susan Watson who has co-ordinated work on the war memorial said: “We are delighted that the efforts of Horsforth School students have made it possible to add the names of fifteen men from Horsforth who gave their lives in WW2 but whose names for whatever reason were initially not recorded on the Cenotaph.”
Veteran Ron Fearn, who landed in Normandy at the end of June 1944, also attended the ceremony.
