A REARRANGED ‘environmental hustings’ will take place in Otley this weekend.

Originally due to be held on Saturday, November 30 the event had to be rescheduled in the wake of last Friday’s terrorist attack on London Bridge.

The hustings, designed to give all of the Parliamentary candidates for Leeds North West a change to explain their plans for tackling climate change, will now take place on Saturday, December 7.

Proceedings will get underway at Otley Methodist Church* - via its Walkergate entrance - at 2pm and finish at 3.30pm.

Town Councillor Mick Bradley, who has organised the event, said he wished to apologise to anyone who could not be notified in time and so turned out for the first, cancelled hustings.

Referring to the terrorist attack in London, which left two people dead, he said: “This was an attack on our democracy.

“ It seems only proper that the hustings should be rearranged, with the co-operation of all five candidates.

“Please attend and ask your questions about this important issue.”

*The venue was previously publicised as being Otley Town Partnership's upstairs room on Mercury Row but has been changed to improve accessibility.
