A FUNDRAISING runner from Otley is hoping to round off 2019 with a race in Malaga.

Danny Cooney has been raising money this year for local dementia charities and The Friends of St Joseph’s School by running in marathons around Europe.

A recent injury has affected his plans but he is still hopeful of running either a marathon or half-marathon in Malaga, Spain on Sunday, December 15.

After that his focus will be on preparing for marathons in Barcelona and in Salzburg, Austria, next Spring.

He will also be holding a Christmas coffee morning at Clitherow House on Sunday, December 22.

The event, organised as a way of thanking everyone who has supported his fundraising efforts, will include mince pies, free raffle tickets, live festive music and a charity festive stall. Danny said: “Over the last few years we have helped various charities. Thank you to everyone, your continued support makes all the difference.”
