OTLEY Action for Older People is in line to receive a funding boost courtesy of the Co-op.

The charity has been chosen to benefit from the company’s Local Community Fund after applying last year.

Project Manager Sue Trainor says the money generated will go towards OAOP’s joint project - working with Otley Old People’s Welfare Management Committee - to create an ‘older people’s hub’ in the town.

She said: “We are delighted we have been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

“To help us raise vital funds we’ll be relying on Co-op members. When a member buys selected products or services from the Co-op they earn a five per cent reward for themselves, with a further one per cent for local causes like ours.

“The Otley Old People’s Welfare Centre building is a major asset in the middle of the town and well overdue for a makeover.

“Support for the venture is gathering momentum but we will still have a shortfall for the final phase. Once complete the facility will bring all walks of people together.” Visit www.otleyactionforolderpeople.org.uk to find out more.
