STUDENTS in Otley have received some potentially lifesaving first aid training.
Nearly 260 Year 9 pupils at Prince Henry’s Grammar School were shown resuscitation techniques on Wednesday, October 16 for Restart a Heart Day. In Yorkshire this was the sixth time that the event has been organised by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) in partnership with the British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, the Resuscitation Council (UK) and St John Ambulance.
Prince Henry’s has taken part each year. Assistant Headteacher - Learning Support, Phil Temple, said: “It’s great to think that, with the YAS and volunteers, we have trained over 1,500 young people in our school alone.”
Volunteers from the ambulance service, Harrogate Hospital, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Yorkshire Police helped the students. The Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Tim Hare, also attended.
