ILKLEY’S biggest Halloween event will be returning for its fifth year of ghosts, ghouls and frightmares this October.

This year’s Ilkley Scare Trail is set to be bigger than the last. With three trails there is going to be something for all the family to enjoy. The Ilkley Scare Trail has quickly become the biggest Halloween event in Ilkley and raises thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes every year. The trail organisers have been working really hard to add to the success of previous Trails and announced this week some exciting changes and additions to the Scare Trails.

Paul Jennings, one of the event organisers said: “The family friendly Pumpkin Trail was has become so popular that we have decided to hold this event over two days, on Saturday, October 26th it will run from noon to 4pm and then on Sunday, October 27th between 10am to 2pm. Last year we raised over £6,000 for local charities and this year we are proud to be supporting ‘LS29 Special Needs Group’ a wonderful charity who helps families with children who require additional support, they are a great a organisation and work throughout the Wharfe Valley including Skipton Otley and Guiseley as well as the whole LS29 area.”

Jess Doherty who manages the Pumpkin Trail said: “We have been working really hard on how to build on the amazing success we had last year for the last six months and we can’t wait for this year! We have added more activities and altered the trail to make it slightly longer and easier for more people to enjoy the fun! This, along with the new Spooky Shop Trail will make the Ilkley Scare Trail one of the best Halloween events in the area.”

In addition to the family trails, The Frightmare Trail is aimed at older children and adults and can’t be further away in style than the Pumpkin Trail. This trail is set deep inside Middleton Woods and takes place after dark, with live actors who’s sole job is to create as much terror as possible.

“The Frightmare Trail has also been adapted and we have some particularly spooky scenes planned this year,” said Daniel Rodley the Scare Trails facilities manager. “We have worked closely with the land owners, Bradford Council, to improve the trail to make this the best (worst!) trail ever!”

The Pumpkin Trail is free (donations accepted) and takes place in Middleton Woods, off Curly Hill on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for the Saturday Frightmare Trail will available soon and The Spooky Shop Trails sheets will be available from the Pumpkin Trail and Just Books on Brook Street from Saturday 26th.
