OTLEY Courthouse has been presented with a Queen’s Award.
The arts venue found out it had won the prestigious accolade, which recognises outstanding work by voluntary groups, earlier this year.
On Wednesday, August 28 the Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Ed Anderson, visited the Courthouse to formally present the award.
Otley Bellman Terry Ford got proceedings underway by giving an ‘Oyez!’ cry, before Mr Anderson made the presentation and thanked the venue’s 130-plus volunteers for their ‘passion, dedication and commitment’.
The guests then enjoyed special mini-cakes and refreshments.
The Queen’s Award is often described as ‘the MBE for volunteer groups’. The glass crystal trophy and accompanying certificate will now be proudly displayed in the Courthouse.
In May, Courthouse representatives Jean Crawford and Pam Lamming joined other winners of this year’s award at a Royal garden party at Buckingham Palace.
