A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing the death of Bradford City doctor Vince Cavaliere in a road traffic collision.

Mike Buck, 45, of Southfield Road, Burley-in-Wharfedale, appeared at Bradford Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Dr Cavaliere on July 3, 2018, by driving a Land Rover Discovery without due care and attention on June 22, 2018, and the case was sent for trial to Bradford Crown Court on September 27.

He was given unconditional bail.

Dr Cavaliere had been involved with The Bantams since 1992 and was a GP at Idle Medical Centre.

The 58-year-old, who was riding his Boardman bicycle, suffered serious injuries in the incident and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment after the crash.

A statement on Bradford City's website read: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr Vince Cavaliere, aged 58. Vince spent over twenty-five years with the club and will be greatly missed by everyone associated with Bradford City. Our deepest condolences are with Vince's family, especially his children Lydia and Felix, who have politely requested that their privacy is respected during this extremely difficult time."
