OTLEY’S Mayor Peter Jackson has presented two Pubwatch awards at a meeting in the town.
Mr Jackson, who is the Regional Representative of National Pubwatch, gave the star awards to Tony Garwood Chairman of Otley and District Pubwatch and Mick Waters, of Leeds City Council Entertainment Licensing.
As chairman Mr Garwood regularly contacts members of the Pubwatch scheme, updating them on matters that may be of interest to their business. He is an active member of Otley Bid and the Chamber of Trade, where he brings together a working partnership between all three.
He took over as chairman of Otley and District Pubwatch in 2018 and immediately implemented a close working relationship with West Yorkshire Police and Leeds City Council Licensing departments, holding weekly telephone conferences ensuring Otley is up to date on issues relating to licensing and crime figures.
Michael Waters joined Leeds City Council in 2007 as a licensing enforcement officer, having previously worked as a fire safety office. A spokesman for Otley Pubwatch said Michael was a strong advocate of the scheme.
