THE Clevedon Restaurant in Ben Rhydding, Ilkley, will be swinging with the sounds of the 20s, 30s and 40s this week when lindy hop vocalist Tessa Smith makes her debut appearance at the venue.

Leeds-born Tessa will be regaling guests with songs from her 20s, 30s and 40s repertoire during a dining event created to appeal to all generations and raise money for the armed forces and military veterans charity, Help for Heroes.

Organiser and general manager, Jeanette Hill Wickman, said the night included a two-course themed buffet and which would appeal to people of all ages and celebrate a bygone era of song, dance and traditional values.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted that Tessa is joining us for this very special occasion – she is known up and down the country and plays at large crowd events including the famous Haworth 1940s weekend.

“It is because there is so much love for the music and the memories of the 20s through to the 40s that we invited Tessa Smith to sing for us.”

She added: “This is another special event that we’re so pleased to be offering here at the Clevedon Restaurant – and a timely one given the recent 75th anniversary commemorations of the D-Day landings.

“By raising money for Help for Heroes at the same time, we are consciously paying tribute to an era that gave so much and to our service men and women, past, present and future.”

The 1920s – 1940s swing and jazz evening is on Thursday, July 18 from 6:30pm at the 50-seat Clevedon Restaurant in Ilkley and will feature music from Vera Lynn, Doris Day and Peggy Lee.

Tickets cost £29 per person. For more information or to book, visit https://www.clevedonrestaurant.co.uk/
