A MENSTON-BASED children’s art club will host its first exhibition next month.

The Paint Box Menston is run by artist Catherine O’Hare from her own purpose-built studio space on Viewlands Crescent.

Aimed at six to 12 year olds, the group involves the children trying their hand at a wide variety of art techniques including painting, printmaking, collage, claywork and 3D model making.

Recently they have produced everything from Salvador Dali style melting clay melting clocks and self portraits to model dragonflies, papier-mâché heads and multi-patterned masks.

Some of those works will be on display when The Paint Box Menston holds its debut exhibition at Otley Courthouse from Sunday, July 7 to Sunday, August 4. (There will also be a private viewing from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, July 14).

Catherine hopes lots of people will get along to see some of the ‘fantastic artwork’ that the children have produced. The club’s classes run during school term-times from 4pm to 5.30pm on Thursdays and from 9.15am to 10.45am, and from 11.30am to 1pm, on Saturdays.
