CHILDREN serving on the junior leadership team at Westville House School visited the Houses of Parliament in London.
Organised as part of the British Values curriculum, the children enjoyed a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. They took part in a workshop which explained the history of the voting process in Britain especially focussing on women gaining the vote. Julian Smith, Government Chief Whip and MP for Skipton and Ripon, joined the children for a question and answer session, before they made their way to the public gallery to watch the ‘House’ in session said:“This was an exceptionally insightful trip for the children and gave them an indication of how the British political system works. It was a truly unique experience which the children thought was brilliant.”
