OTLEY Courthouse was a hive of activity for World Bee Day.
Wharfedale Beekeepers Association held a number of free events at the venue on Sunday, May 19. They included a chance to see magnified close-ups of bees, wasps, pollen and queen cells on a big screen and a demonstration hive.
There was also a screening of the Maya the Bee movie and a question and answer evening session with local experts. Otta’s Leah were announced as the winners of a bee-themed window dressing contest, with Oxfam in second place and Just Books third.
A group from Aspire, meanwhile, won the bee trail quiz prize and the day was rounded off with a screening of The Secret Life of Bees.
Wharfedale Beekeepers Association spokeswoman Gill Leggat said: “We had a wonderful day and would like to thank everyone who came along and showed such interest.”
