VOLUNTEERS from the Grassington-based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRS) were called out to the Cow and Calf area of Ilkley Moor on Friday, January 11 to help a walker who had fallen.

The woman has sustained a lower leg injury whilst out walking on the moor.

A spokesman for UWFRA said: “The casualty was located by phone to the locally known ‘Crocodile Rock’ and members were dispatched there to help.

“Suspecting an ankle fracture the team administered Entinox to the patient before splinting the limb. The team then stretchered the lady down to the car park where a friend collected her and took her to hospital.”

In 2018 60 volunteers dealt with 51 incidents across the area - just six short of the record set three years ago.

The busiest month was August when the volunteers dealt with nine call-outs.
