WHARFEDALE residents are being invited to help out at this year’s Tour de Yorkshire.
The 2019 edition of the race takes place from Thursday, May 2 to Sunday, May 5 and will once again see some of the world’s top cyclists battling it out.
Local cycling fans will be able to cheer on the competitors as they pass through Bramhope, Pool-in-Wharfedale and Leathley during Stage 2 on May 3. And riders will be back in Wharfedale on May 5 when they will head through Blubberhouses and take on a King of the Mountain challenge on Otley Chevin.
Tour organisers Welcome to Yorkshire and ASO rely on a large band of volunteers, Tour Maker, to welcome and assist spectators along the event’s route each year.
Registration to become a 2019 Tour Maker has now opened, with five different roles available and training provided for each. To find out more visit https://letour.yorkshire.com/information/tour-makers/ or e-mail any questions to tourmakers@yorkshire.com.
