A FORMER town centre bank will go under the hammer at a property auction next month.

Otley’s branch of Natwest closed last year, with the company saying online banking meant fewer people were using its brick and mortar branches.

Now the former bank, in a town centre spot on Manor Square, has been listed for auction with a £275,000 guide price.

It is among the properties that will be sold at the next Pugh Property Auction, which will be held at Leeds United’s grounds on June 5.

The property is 356 square metres spread out over five floors, although a second floor flat in the building has been sold off on a 125 year lease.

When the closure was announced Otley’s MP Greg Mulholland had urged Natwest to save the town’s branch. But Natwest replied, saying the number of transactions in the Otley branch had declined by 23 per cent since 2011.
