SIR – Grand Central Railways have been attracted to Bradford without a cross-rail link.

It is hard to think what good there would be for Bradfordians with such a link. Perhaps you could have direct trains from Skipton and Ilkley to Manchester, but not much else. Bradford already has good services to Leeds and Manchester, and now to London.

Manchester gave up ideas of linking Victoria and Piccadilly years ago. The idea of slicing the city centre in two with what might be an ugly structure to boot is not that attractive, or necessary, to the citizens of Bradford who would be served with no more destinations than they already have.

Welcome to Bradford, Grand Central.
