A motorsport team has entered administration just days after celebrating a major victory on the track.
Cataclean Plato Racing secured its first British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) win at Knockhill Racing Circuit in early August, but it was revealed on Monday, August 17, that it had entered administration.
Adam Morgan claimed victory in the opening race of the day, marking what was described in racing media as a "coming-of-age moment" for the team.
Cataclean Plato Racing enters administration
However, Cataclean Plato Racing appointed administrators on Wednesday, August 12, just four days after the win.
James Varney and Simon Bonney of Arafino Advisory Limited have been appointed as joint administrators.
Pantera Advisory Group has described the situation as "a unique opportunity" to acquire the business, which was founded last year.
The team recorded a turnover of £545,073 against overheads of £1,380,170, resulting in an operating loss of £835,097.
The financial overview stated: "The business represents an attractive opportunity to acquire a high-profile, operational motorsport platform.
"They have an established BTCC presence, competitive race cars, experienced engineering personnel, recognised drivers and commercial sponsorship relationships."
The company has two newly developed Mercedes-AMG A35 saloons on its books.
It remains unclear what impact the administration will have on these roles.
Interested parties have until Tuesday, August 25 to register their interest in acquiring the business.
The proposed sale has been listed under the title "Project Speed."
How was Cataclean Plato Racing formed?
In an interview with ITV at the Silverstone round of the 2025 British Touring Car Championship, the former racing driver Jason Plato said he would be starting his own team for 2026.
The team would be run in a collaboration with the RML Group and would use its warehouse as a team base.
Jason announced the team would use the two Mercedes AMG A35 Saloons with Daniel Rowbottom confirmed to be piloting one of the cars alongside Adam Morgan.
Daniel also became a co-owner of the team.
At the company's debut race weekend at Donington Park National race on April 18, Daniel took pole position after winning the qualifying race on the Saturday.
