The mother of missing student Libby Squire has made an emotional appeal to her daughter to get in touch as the search for her entered its fourth day.
Lisa Squire told the 21-year-old University of Hull student in a video appeal: “It is breaking my heart not knowing where you are.”
Miss Squire has not been seen since late on Thursday night.
Her parents issued the statement through Humberside Police on Monday as police scoured a waterway and searched bins and drains near the student’s home on Wellesley Avenue in Hull.
Mrs Squire said: “We just want to know that you are safe.
“Please get in touch with us any way you can.”
Russell Squire, Miss Squire’s father, described his daughter as “our kind, thoughtful, beautiful girl” who is “loved by so many people”.
Speaking directly to Miss Squire, he said: “We just want you home.”
Mr Squire appealed for people to come forward with information “no matter how small or irrelevant it may be” and thanked everyone for their support during what he described as a “very difficult time”.
He said: “Your messages and kind words are a great source of strength to us both.”
The family had previously said that the student’s disappearance is “very out of character”, and that she is a “very thoughtful and caring young woman who puts others before herself”.
Miss Squire was reported missing after getting into a taxi outside the Welly Club on Beverley Road at around 11pm on Thursday.
It is believed that she got out of the vehicle a short while later near her home address.
She was then helped by a motorist, and was last spotted on CCTV on Beverley Road, near to the junction with Haworth Street, at around 11.45pm.
Police said that the motorist in question had contacted them and “really helped” with the search.
On Monday, officers continued to search the areas close to where Miss Squire was last seen.
On Wellesley Avenue, police dressed in black were searching in drains and wheelie bins along the street, while detectives conducted door-to-door inquiries in Haworth Street.
Nearby, officers from the police marine unit travelled along a length of the frozen Beverley and Barmston Drain in inflatable rafts, breaking the ice and searching the water.
Police also confirmed that officers were present in the University of Hull grounds to support the community.
Police have urged anyone living around the area where Miss Squire was last spotted to check their gardens and outbuildings in case she has taken shelter from the cold weather.
Anyone who was driving around the area between 11pm on Thursday and 3am on Friday and has dash cam footage was also asked to come forward by contacting 101.
Ryan Tweddell, a friend of Miss Squire who organised a search by around 200 students on Saturday, told the Press Association: “Libby is a loving, down-to-earth, typical, normal student.
“She is hardworking, helps everyone who needs it and is a lovely, brilliant girl.”
