Oh yes it is – panto time in Bradford again!

Last night was opening night at the Alhambra for Cinderella, billed as West Yorkshire’s biggest-ever pantomime.

The new production, especially created for the Bradford audiences, sees the return of 3D special effects that amazed audiences in the record-breaking Aladdin.

And the city’s best loved comedian Billy Pearce has returned to pantoland again, this time as Buttons.

His co-star as Cinders is Emmerdale’s Hayley Tamaddon, who plays Delilah Dingle.

The show’s executive producer Jon Conway said this year’s panto was “unmissable”.

The extravagant production is crammed with dazzling sets, breathtaking costumes and literally bucket loads of comedy And there’s no chance of audiences escaping with not getting involved, as there is plenty of participation to be had.

A Fairy Godmother on skates, Ugly Sisters who arrive in Dr Who’s Tardis sporting designer gowns created by the Dalek’s stylist and a hot air balloon are among the other treats lined up on stage.

Word has it there is even a real-life horse to take Cinderella to the ball.

A spokesman for Bradford Theatres said: “Produced by Qdos Pantomimes, the largest pantomime producer in the world, and staged by the same team that presented Aladdin and Peter Pan, Cinderella will have the Alhambra Theatre’s hallmark of quality entertainment and value for money for all the family.

“With a record number of people attending the Alhambra Theatre pantomime in recent years, early booking is advised.

“If you leave it until Christmas, not even your Fairy Godmother will be able to get you a ticket for Yorkshire’s biggest Christmas show!”

The show runs until Sunday February 1. To book tickets call the Alhambra Box Office on 01274 432000.
