A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a money box was stolen during a cash-in-transit robbery in Bradford today.

The suspect targeted a security guard at Tesco Express in Manningham Lane at about 10.45am. Armed officers were sent to the scene because the robber was said to be brandishing a weapon.

The man, who was wearing a grey hooded top, fled down Drill Parade and got into a black Jaguar car that witnesses saw being driven from the scene.

The car was stopped at the junction of Harewood Street and Webster Place in Barkerend at 1.20pm today.

Police said the guard was not injured during the incident and it is not known if he was delivering money to the shop or picking it up. Police enquiries are ongoing.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman added that it was not known how much money had been taken or what weapon the robber was said to be armed with.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 0461 of April 18.
