VOLUNTEER litter-pickers from Oakworth teamed-up with colleagues from across the county border for their latest blitz.

The Pickers of Oakworth were supported by Pendle Borough Council and Laneshawbridge residents as they targeted the route towards the Lancashire village from Scar Top.

Around 150 bagfuls of rubbish were collected over two days from the roadside.

Volunteer Irene Fowler said: “What a marvellous but tiring couple of days. The difference is amazing.

“Pendle councillor David Whipp was extremely thankful for all our efforts and a Laneshawbridge resident provided welcome cool drinks.”

Fellow volunteer Steve Ives said: “We have a fantastic group of volunteers in Oakworth. I am really proud of our achievement over the two days. It was an amazing effort. We would like to thank Keighley firm S&J Civils Ltd and Keighley Council for the loan of warning signs for motorists.

“We would love to have our own bespoke warning signs so if any company would like to sponsor our group with some equipment, please get in touch.”
