NORTHERN – which operates rail services on the Airedale line – is introducing timetable changes.

The company says the move, being implemented on May 16, aims to “give people returning to rail travel more flexibility”.

Reduced timetables have been in place since the January lockdown, but services are now being reintroduced on some key routes.

Tony Baxter, for Northern, says: “We have brought in as many additional services as possible with the resources we have available and have prioritised routes and times where there is the most significant demand.

“We want our customers to have confidence in the service we are offering and our plan will give those passengers the stability they deserve.”

Mr Baxter warns that some services may be busier than passengers have been used to in recent months, so people are urged to plan ahead and where possible travel at quieter times.

“We need our customers to work with us and think carefully about their journeys,” he added.
