MORRISONS – which has a store in Worth Way, Keighley – will pay its staff at least £10 an hour as part of a new deal.
The supermarket giant said the agreement, which comes into force in April, would mean a “significant” pay rise for nearly 96,000 employees. Most will see an increase of about nine per cent.
Morrisons’ current minimum pay rate is £9.20 an hour.
David Potts, for the firm, said: “This is a symbolic and important milestone that represents another step in rewarding the incredibly important work that our colleagues do up and down the country.
“We have seen renewed and widespread appreciation for our staff who have had an incredibly tough 2020, working tirelessly so Britain could eat well and shop safely throughout the pandemic.
“Morrisons colleagues have earned their status as key workers – and this pay increase – many times over.”
