KEIGHLEY MP Robbie Moore defied the Government last night in voting against its new tiered Covid restrictions.
He was among 55 MPs who opposed the Prime Minister's plans, which were passed.
He said: “I have huge concerns about local independent businesses, particularly the hospitality sector, and not just pubs and restaurants but self-catered accommodation that are relying on that Christmas income to keep them going through January and February.
“I think while the range of packages the Government has provided have been great, what was announced yesterday just wasn’t quite good enough.
“It’s a difficult decision, but I have to look after my constituents in Keighley and those hard-working businesses and that’s what I did by sending a message to the Government last night.”
It was the first time Mr Moore had defied the Tory whip.
