A KEIGHLEY company has marked another step in its support of the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Clever Energy Boilers, based in Lawkholme Lane, has announced a two-year sponsorship deal – worth a four-figure sum – with Oxenhope Recreation Football Club.

The firm has maintained operations throughout lockdown to keep central heating and hot water systems up and running in the homes of key workers. And it gave cash awards to 12 people nominated for going ‘above and beyond’ during the Covid crisis.

Clever Energy Boilers managing director Jon Broadbent said the company was delighted to be the main sponsor of Oxenhope FC, with which the firm has several links.

Mr Broadbent played for the club himself for five years and the company’s workforce includes two current players and the first-team coach, Phil Woolias.

The 108-year-old club plays in the West Yorkshire Association Football League.

“Oxenhope Rec is close to my heart and has strong connections to the business so we are delighted to help out,” said Mr Broadbent.

“We are in the fortunate position of being able to support a local team during this pandemic, at a time when many others are worrying about the future.

“This partnership brings security to the team and allows us to achieve our goals of investing in the community through this incredibly tough year, so it makes complete sense.”

Clever Energy Boilers was founded in 2010.

Since it was established, the firm has installed more than 10,000 boilers.

Whilst its roots have always been in West Yorkshire, the company has expanded to cover the rest of northern England, as well as the West Midlands and London.

Late last year it bought East Midlands firm Hinckley Plumbing and Heating Services to extend its coverage still further, with a view to becoming a nationwide concern by 2025.

Clever Energy Boilers’ group annual turnover stands at around £7 million and there are 75 direct and indirect employees.

Last year it won the Yorkshire and Humberside Boiler and Heating Installer and Contractor category in the Energy Efficiency Awards. And Mr Broadbent received the Business Personality of the Year accolade at the Keighley and Airedale Business Awards.
