LATEST Covid-19 estimates for Ilkley and Addingham show between 18 to 24 cases, a meeting of the town council was told.

Cllr Peter Mate told the meeting on Monday: “We have certainly got a number of cases in Ilkley and Addingham - we need to be aware of that.”

He added: “It is not just a Keighley and Bradford problem.”

Cllr Mate made his comments during an update on the work of the Ilkley Coronavirus Response Group. Town Mayor Cllr Mark Stidworthy said the group had now reconvened and would be supporting local groups that had been busy throughout the pandemic and that were still busy.

He said there were no specific actions that were needed at the moment and added: “It is a watching brief and things are changing rapidly.”

He stressed that everyone needed to play their part and be careful to try to protect more vulnerable citizens. He also spoke of the need to remember carers and health professionals, who were doing a “sterling”job. The Ilkley Coronavirus Response Group has resumed regular meetings in response to a “significant rise” in cases over recent weeks.
