KEIGHLEY’S steam railway could be on track for a visitor boost following its inclusion on a new website spotlighting Yorkshire film and TV locations.

The Filmed in Yorkshire web pages feature places across the county which have been used by film crews to shoot some of our best-loved recent small and big-screen productions.

Among the locations is the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

The five-mile line is highlighted for its appearances in Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small, hit BBC programme Peaky Blinders and TV mini-series The English Game.

Behind the new website is Screen Yorkshire, which hopes the initiative will help draw more visitors to venues as the region’s tourism industry strives to recover from the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown.

People can explore filming locations on the website through a navigational map, photographs and production information.

Other productions featured alongside their locations include Gentleman Jack, Downton Abbey and Victoria.

Screen Yorkshire will further develop the site in the coming weeks, adding more productions and highlighting upcoming TV and cinema releases.

The site will cover both drama and factual productions, where locations are open to the public.

Screen Yorkshire is also planning to launch a new app next year to work alongside the website, plus a host of other related materials.

Sally Joynson, chief executive of Screen Yorkshire, said: ‘’We’ve had to move fast to get this new site up and running, but there’s never been a more important time to drive new business to the region.

“We want to do our bit to help Yorkshire’s visitor economy and where better to start than with some of the fantastic locations which appear on our screens and are open to the public.

“Screen tourism is big business. On-screen locations are frequently cited as an important driver influencing choice of destination.

“Productions filmed in Yorkshire appear on screens in both the UK and across the world, and although domestic and international travel opportunities are limited at the moment we hope this new site will lay the foundations for more visitors in the months and years ahead.”
