A COMMUNITY building closed during lockdown is reopening.

Glusburn Community and Arts Centre – the institute – will open its doors again early next month, with groups restarting where possible.

The centre is staging its annual general meeting in the main hall on Wednesday, September 2, at 7.15pm.

Villagers are invited to attend – and can vote and nominate directors to help with the running of the building – but due to coronavirus restrictions, only 20 members of the public will be admitted.

Anyone interested in attending should email debby@gicac.org.uk or call 01535 630223.

The centre – in Colne Road – is planning a cinema weekend from September 25 to 27, when three different films will be shown. Numbers will be limited and tickets must be booked in advance.

A spokesman said: "It has been a difficult year for the institute. As with many public buildings, we had to close in March and cancel all our planned events and our many groups had to stop meeting.

"We are really excited to be welcoming the public back."

The centre would also like to hear from anybody interested in joining the small group of volunteers which runs the building.
