A CAR left the road and crashed into an electricity pole earlier this morning.

The accident happened at around 5.30am on the A629 Aire Valley trunk road between Keighley and Silsden.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the car went off the road and down some banking, before crashing into an electricity pole and landing in a field.

The male driver managed to get out and was taken to hospital.

Firefighters made the scene safe and electricity engineers were called out. Local power supplies were affected for 2-3 hours.
