A MAN escaped with cash in a knifepoint robbery at a petrol station.

The assailant walked up to the counter at the BP garage shop, in Station Road, Cross Hills, and pointed a knife at a staff member.

There was a struggle and the man fled with a small amount of cash.

The member of staff sustained a small cut to his finger.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information about the incident – which happened at about 5pm last Thursday (July 23) – and have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.

The suspect is described as between 20 and 25 years old, about 5ft 9in tall, slim with green or brown eyes.

He was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket, gloves and a black face mask. He was said to have a local accent.
