POPULAR singer Jane McDonald has rearranged her planned concerts at Leeds Grand for 2021.

Jane, who rose to fame as a star of fly-on-the-wall TV series The Cruise, plans to perform at the theatre on June 6 and 7 next year.

Let The Light In is the title of the concert tour, which was announced soon after Jane revealed she was quitting the long-running television shows that sees her cruising around the world.

The singer and presenter said she was longer fronting Channel 5 favourites Cruising With Jane McDonald or Holidaying With Jane McDonald. The star, 56, said she needed some time at home.

She said: “It has been a privilege to call this a ‘job’. After so many years filming abroad, I am looking forward to some much-needed time in the UK and to focus on my music and tours and exciting new projects.”

Channel 5 director said: “We’ve loved working with Jane and are proud to have had her as part of the family. She helped us to win our first Bafta and her series have become solid staples of our Friday night schedules.”

Jane’s last series, originally planned for this year, will be in September next year, entitled Sailaway with Jane McDonald and travelling on the liner Anthem of the Seas.

Jane rocketed to stardom in 1998 when she first appeared on TV screens in the BBC 1 docusoap The Cruise. The series attracted 13 million viewers and Jane McDonald became a star and household name.

Jane’s first album outsold her nearest rivals by four to one and gained Jane a place in the Guinness Book Of Records. It remained at Number One for three weeks and achieved platinum status staying in the Top 10 for 8 weeks.

Each of Jane’s subsequent four major albums have all reached gold and silver status. 2009 saw the first album release under her own label, titled ‘Jane’ and entering the Official UK Album Chart at number seven, achieving silver status within six weeks.

Jane has built up a large and loyal theatre audience, performing live concerts across the United Kingdom and Ireland, selling out the Royal Albert Hall and the London Palladium twice.

Jane has also played to a sold-out audience at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas. The concert was filmed for DVD and went on to become an instant hit in the charts and the Mayor of Las Vegas presented Jane with the Key To the City.

Jane was a regular panelist on the hit daytime show Loose Women and a regular guest on the Alan Titchmarch Show. Other TV highlights include, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, This Morning, GMTV and The Jonathan Ross Show.

In 2015 she performed the role of Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats at Blackpool Opera House.

A spokesman said: “Jane puts her heart and soul into her sell out performances, produces her own albums on her own label, was executive producer on her CD/DVD, Live at the London Palladium and works alongside her Musical Director on arrangements and recordings.

“In 2016 she embarked on her ‘Making Memories’ tour which sold out at venues all over the UK. It was so popular she continued touring the show throughout 2017.”

Jane’s 2017 album, Hold The Covers Back, featured her first completely self-written song and included a duet with former Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley.

Jane returned to cruise ships in 2017, with her own TV travel show ‘Cruising with Jane McDonald’, which was shown on Channel 5.

The spokesman said: “The show was so successful that in 2018 she won her first BAFTA. An album of songs from the show was released in June 2018.
