SENIOR council figures have paid glowing tribute to the role of young carers in the district and reiterated the local authority’s support.

Irfan Alam, Bradford Council’s deputy director of children’s services, said: “We value all our young carers and our commitment to supporting them remains strong, every day of the year and in particular during these current challenging times.

“The dedicated service we jointly commission provided by Carers’ Resource – along with our partnerships with health organisations, adult services and schools – are a vital way for us to reach out, identify and support young carers in the district.”

Keighley West councillor Adrian Farley, executive member for children and families, says everyone has a role to play in identifying those youngsters who need support.

“I urge any young carers or families aware of a young carer to get in touch with Carers’ Resource so they can gain further support and guidance,” he added. Visit carersresource.org for more details.
