HUNDREDS of children and families are taking part in a wealth of weekly activities organised by Keighley Healthy Living.

The charity has been distributing resource kits across the town to help families cope with life in lockdown.

The packs have included seed and vegetable planting kits, sports equipment, Scrap Magic, arts and craft items, and pizza making food kits.

Skipping ropes have been made for the packs by Cliffe Castle Men’s Shed, and Explorer kits from Cliffe Castle will soon be added.

KHL said it was reaching out to approximately 150 children and families each week as part of its Living Healthy Holiday Family Resource 2020 project.

KHL spokesman Rowena Garton said: "We are distributing different and exciting, quality activities kits every week. We have engaged with children and families in need of support through food banks, community centres and local schools.

"The project is gaining momentum and is becoming a fantastic opportunity for KHL to collaborate with different organisations and social enterprises in our local area.

"We have many organisations that are providing free items or reduced-price goods which is helping the project reach more families with children who are needing support."

Asda and Keelham Farm Shop and helping provide food for the activity kits, while Bee Outdoors is helping create videos for the Keighley Healthy Living YouTube Channel to give ideas of how to use some of the kits.

Rowena added: "The project has become a great way to work with different local social enterprises through Rachel Rickards at Participate.

"We are finding that there are many organisations with many incredible, amazing skills and a willingness to give to our local children and families."

KHL would like to hear from more organisations able to help with activities and resources for the kits.
