PEOPLE are being urged to be on their guard after two burglaries in Keighley.

In both cases, the intruders gained access through unlocked doors or windows.

The incidents – both on May 22 – occurred in West Bank Close, Braithwaite, and Ford Street, Stockbridge.

“Burglaries can often increase during the spring and summer – when burglars look to take advantage of doors and windows being left open,” said a West Yorkshire Police spokesman.

“However, taking simple measures such as locking your doors and windows, not leaving valuables on display and using a house alarm can significantly reduce your chances of being a victim.

“Crime prevention doesn’t have to cost a lot of money and use the security you already have.

“Always lock your doors and windows even when you’re at home.

“And always take keys out of locks and keep them in a safe place.”
