CARING youngsters have been sending ‘get well’ messages to Covid-19 patients at Airedale Hospital.

The cards and pictures were created by children of employees at Leeds-based IT recruitment company Corecom Consulting.

Millie and Lottie Cowman, Holly and Ella Grant and Mila Sanderson – who are all aged between four and nine – realised the patients wouldn’t be able to have visitors and wanted to do something to cheer them up.

Millie, a pupil at Harden Primary School, said: “We are hoping our pictures and letters will make the poorly people who are in hospital smile and know that we are thinking about them.”

Their messages were delivered to Dr Anne Raine, a retired doctor who has volunteered to work with the palliative care and patient experience teams at the hospital during the pandemic.

She said: “We were delighted to receive the children’s lovely cards.

“It is touching that they are thinking of those who need some comfort at this time and incredibly thoughtful of them to create something that I’m sure will give much pleasure to the patients.”
