A SANDBEDS artist has captured Keighley’s Captain Tom Moore in oils – and is offering to donate the finished work to an organisation.

Chris Hunter, who was head of art in the prison service for more than 15 years, was inspired to produce the work by the achievements of the 100-year-old war veteran – who raised more than £32m for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden.

“I was moved to put oil on canvas and immortalise visually this hero and champion of our fantastic NHS,” said Chris, now a full-time carer for his wife. “What better way to show my appreciation for the NHS than by portraying a truly inspirational human being.”

He spent more than 30 hours working on the painting, over several sessions.

Any organisation interested in receiving the portrait can email Chris on chris.hunter512@gmail.com.
