‘VIRTUAL visiting’ is keeping nursing-home residents in touch with family and friends during the coronavirus crisis.
Czajka Care Group – whose homes include Currergate at Steeton and Beanlands, Cross Hills – has invested in tablet computers so its residents can maintain contact with loved ones.
In common with other care and nursing premises, the group has curtailed non-essential visits to minimise the risk of spreading the virus and to comply with Government guidelines.
Konrad Czajka, the group’s managing director, said: “In order to reduce the impact on our residents and their families, technology is allowing us to overcome this temporary change – with the use of Facetime, Skype calls and social media all playing their part in keeping everyone connected.
“We have found that our residents are very open to the whole experience and the ‘virtual visits’ have been a big hit.”
