A DEDICATED service has been set-up to help Keighley’s most vulnerable during the coronavirus crisis.

The Bradford Council initiative will help ensure that people without a support network of family or friends will get the assistance they need.

A community hub has been created in the constituency – and others across the district – to co-ordinate volunteers and organisations able to assist.

Anyone in need of support can call a contact centre on 01274 431000.

The person’s needs will be registered and they will be directed to an organisation that can help or connected to volunteers in their area.

The contact centre is open from 8am to 6pm weekdays and from 10am to 4pm at weekends.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, executive member for healthy people and places, said: “At challenging times like this it’s a blessing to have friends, family, neighbours or members of the local community to rally round and give their support.

“But, unfortunately, some of our most vulnerable residents do not have those networks to rely on so we want to make sure they have somewhere to turn to when they need it.

“Anyone who needs our help should get in touch.”
