A FORMER Crossflatts man who once worked as an MI5 intelligence officer has produced a self-isolation guide.

Paul William Szulc hopes the video, which he has posted online, will help people who are having to self-isolate due to coronavirus.

The film, A Practical Guide To Enjoy Self-Isolation, spotlights several areas to focus on – including DIY, exercise/fitness, networking, dancing and comedy.

Mr Szulc, 37, who still lives in the Aire Valley, spent six months in self-isolation in 2007 while working for MI5.

He has a masters degree in psychology and mental health and has become acclaimed as an expert on self-isolating.

"The whole coronavirus situation is really concerning and people’s mental health is suffering," he said.

"I couldn't just sit back and do nothing.

"We have some difficult times ahead but together we can get through this."

The video has won praise from a friend and former colleague, Patrick Vallance, who himself is currently self-isolating.

"This will be my survival guide," he said.

"I’ve known Paul a long time and he is the first person I call when I am at a low ebb."
