BRADFORD Alhambra may be closed now due to coronavirus but there are plenty of delights to come later this year and early next. A spectacular new production of classic musical Singin’ in the Rain can be seen at the end of its national tour on June 8-12 next year.

This production of Singin’ in the Rain opened at Chichester Festival Theatre and was extended due to unprecedented public demand, before a transfer to London which received huge critical acclaim and four Olivier Award nominations. It played to 750,000 people, with the iconic rain scene using more than 6,000 litres of water – the same weight is two rhinos – and 100 metres of heavy duty rubber hose.

The stage production of Singin’ in the Rain is based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, regularly voted the most popular film musical of all time. Singin’ in the Rain features songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, including Make ‘em Laugh, Good Morning, Moses Supposes and Singin’ in the Rain.

My Best Friend’s Wedding, in Bradford from October 5-10, is a new musical comedy starring Alexandra Burke, who recently wowed Alhambra audiences in The Bodyguard, and has also starred on stage in Chicago and Sister Act. It features some of the most iconic pop anthems ever written by the legendary Burt Bacharach and Hal David, including I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself, Walk on By, I Say A Little Prayer and What’s New Pussycat.

Sunny Afternoon, the multi Olivier Award winning Kinks musical, returns to Bradford from November 3-7, following two years in the West End. Experience the faultless musicianship and brilliant songs played live and loud on stage including You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, All Day and All of the Night, Lola and Sunny Afternoon .

Northern Ballet’s world premiére of “spectacular and magical” new ballet Merlin will be in Bradford on October 16 and 17. Merlin will sweep audiences away on an epic adventure as the world’s most famous sorcerer discovers how to master his magic to unite a warring kingdom.

If the Alhambra is back open, Bring It on The Musical is slated for performances on July 14-18 starring Amber Davies and Louis Smith. The Broadway hit is inspired by the film of the same name, taking audiences on a high-flying, energy fuelled journey which tackles friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness.
