MORE information about setting-up community-led housing projects will be given at a free advice session in Cross Hills.

Charity Locality is staging the event – in partnership with the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, and funded by Craven Council – at South Craven Community Library on Monday, March 30, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

A presentation will be given and there will be a question-and-answer session, plus the option of one-to-one discussions for people with specific ideas.

The housing projects are run by individual community groups or parish or town councils.

Schemes are usually developed with a community-led organisation or enterprise.

Sophie Michelena, for Locality, said: “These projects aim to solve local problems by working for and with the community – for instance providing affordable housing that meets the community’s wants and needs. I have witnessed so many exciting groups start from scratch.

“We are really keen to find enthusiastic individuals who want to be part of community-led housing solutions in Craven and the Dales. The information session is about breaking down the steps for people, and helping them to think about and develop their idea.”
