RUNNERS and their dogs are straining at the leash in readiness for another Manorlands fundraiser.

The Running Riot group is staging a third canicross on April 5 in aid of the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Anyone can enter the event, which entails cross-country running with your dog.

Participants will follow a five-kilometre route across farmland, at Carleton-in-Craven.

The event is being sponsored by Millie’s Wolfheart. All finishers will receive a medal and Millie’s Wolfheart goodies, plus there are prizes for winners in various age categories.

Jo Wormald, one of the organisers, said: “Runners and their dogs will set off at 15-second intervals.

“There are sheep around and the event is in lambing season so dogs must not be allowed to run free.

“Everyone is welcome – with this being a charity event we hope to attract new people to the sport. There will also be a stall selling specialist running equipment.”
