A KEIGHLEY building society is staging an information session to help people avoid becoming a victim of financial fraud.

The Yorkshire Building Society Low Street branch is hosting the Take Five over Tea event on Friday, February 28, between 10am and 2pm.

Customers and members of the public are invited to call in to learn about common tricks used by fraudsters and tips on protecting yourself.

Sally Hodgson, fraud manager at the Yorkshire Building Society, said: “Fraud scams can happen to anybody, but older people are often targeted when it comes to financial fraud.

“Incidents of financial fraud happen every fifteen seconds across the UK. And two in five people have been personally affected by fraud, or know someone who has.

“By hosting our Take Five over Tea session, we hope to reach as many people as possible in Keighley to raise awareness around this issue. We’ll be talking, in an informal setting, about the common types of fraud and what you can to do to prevent it.”
