WHERE there’s muck there’s brass – at least that’s the hope of two causes.
A ‘mulch and manure’ delivery service has been launched for gardeners, with proceeds being split between Keighley Show and Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.
For an online donation, people can get manure and mulch delivered in 84-litre barrowloads.
Orders should be placed at bit.ly/38vyRgE by Friday, February 28. Deliveries will take place over the following nine days.
The initiative was conceived by Andrew Wood, community fundraising manager at Manorlands and this year’s Keighley Show president.
He said: “Participants in the show’s equestrian section produce large amounts of manure and event stalwarts the Wallbank family run Keighley Tree Services, which has stockpiles of mulch. Both commodities are much coveted by local gardeners, many of whom will be displaying their vegetables and flowers at the show on September 5. We thank our generous suppliers and volunteer deliverers, without whom the project couldn’t happen.”
Show chairman, William Mitchell, said: “We hope that people will take this great opportunity to improve their gardens, with a charity benefit.”
