A HOSPICE is urging the community to help it cover the cost of an extra day of care.

The leap year means Manorlands will have to find funds to provide its services on February 29.

It costs the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice £9,000 a day to maintain its provision, both at Manorlands and in the community.

Senior fundraiser, Hayley Ibbotson, said: “There’s a real need to ensure we can match the care required in the local area with the funds which enable us to do so.

“People across the community have always been incredibly supportive of Manorlands and we’re hoping that with their backing, we can meet this challenge and raise the extra funds needed.”

Donations to the #PayForADay campaign can be made online at sueryder.org/manorlandsleap or by calling the fundraising office on 01535 640430, or can be sent to the hospice at Keighley Road, Oxenhope BD22 9HJ.

People are also being encouraged to hold their own events and activities to boost the appeal, and a fundraising pack can be obtained from the hospice.
