KEIGHLEY Churches Together is again staging Lent lunches.
People can enjoy a light lunch every Friday during Lent, from noon, at Keighley Salvation Army.
The first is on Friday, February 28, at the High Street church.
Teams of volunteers from six churches across the town prepare soup, rolls and cheese, with tea and coffee.
Help is provided by students from Holy Family School in Keighley, who assist with serving and washing-up.
Proceeds from the initiative go to Christian Aid.
“We do not make any specific charge but ask for donations of around £2 per head,” said a spokesman.
“For many of us the lunches are one of the highlights of the year – when we meet-up again with friends and acquaintances from all over the district. As much as we enjoy the lunches there is also a serious side, raising funds for Christian Aid’s work across the world. It currently works in 37 countries.”
